6 Month Wellness Check

Today was a day full of screaming. Saya had her 6 month wellnesss appointment with her pediatrician and it was not fun for the both of us. First Saya blew out her diaper in the car on the way to the appointment. There were no exam rooms available for me to use so of course I had to use the yucky hospital bathroom changing table. Not very happy about it as Saya had to touch everything she could get her hands on. Then it was time for our appointment and the nurse took all of Saya's measurements. As the nurse took her and placed her on the exam table, it was nothing but screams.

Here are her stats in case you were wondering:
Height: 27 inches
Weight: 15 pounds 4 ounces
Head: 16.5 inches

Then the doctor came in and answered all my questions while Saya cried and screamed. He checked her lungs while she was still in arms and she was still in tears. Then as he picked her up to the exam table, more screaming.  As he left the room she stopped for a brief second. Then the nurse came in to give her her vaccine and more screaming.

It was a fun day! Though it was rough, the good news is Saya is healthy and developing.

Jellycat Bunglie Phoebe the Pig

We named Saya's new Jellycat pig Phoebe. I hope she likes it grows up with it. She's super soft and the materials are safe for babies. Gotta love European products! Ok, you can't really see Phoebe's face in these photos but believe me, she's cute!

Gifts Galore!

Today Saya received lots of gifts from our friends, the Gardners, here is a video of Saya enjoying her gifts. When we were in Japan, we gave Saya the Meiji Hohoemi brand formula. Sakura, the Gardner's baby girl, also drank the same formula and they were kind enough to send us the containers so that Saya too has them to look at when she is older. We are so thankful! They also sent us books, clothes, and teething giraffe Sophie. Here is short video of Saya enjoying her gifts-

We had to take some pictures too! Saya surrounded by gifts.

Saya loves the red ribbon and wants to rip the package open.

Mommy was being silly and put the ribbon on Saya's head.

Sophie the Giraffe! We love her!

The Meiji cans! If friends were flowers we'd pick you too!

Trying on a new outfit. Looks warm! Where's Saya?

Books! We love Sesame Street and it's never too early to start reading.

Another cool, or shall we say warm outfit! How does it look?

Love the cans!

2nd Tooth is on the Way

Her second tooth is starting  to come in. I didn't know they come  in right after another. Time to get Saya a toothbrush.

New Pair of Jeans!

We went to the Gymboree outlet this past weekend and got Saya a pair of jeans. They are so cute and fit Saya just right, ok they are slightly big. I had to put her in it so our social worker can see her new outfit.

Saya Playing on Her Own

Saya Trying to Roll Over

Saya is now rolling over from her tummy to her back but not vice versa. She attempts to do so on her Boppy but not quite yet.

2nd Post Placement Visit

Our social worker came over for a post placement visit and she didn't have any concerns. Just one more to go before our court date.

Saya's First Tooth

We were wondering why Saya was putting everything she could in her mouth, and sure enough it was a tooth. She now has one tooth growing in on her bottom gum. It's very exciting but also quite sad that she is growing so fast. No pictures yet as it's hard to get a pic of her tooth without her tongue getting in the picture. We'll post one later when the tooth is fully grown in.

Homemade Baby Food

I made some sweet potatoes for Saya and she seems to like it. Not sure if it's cost effective yet as I had to buy baby food jars. Thank goodness for McGuckins! They were the only ones who sold freezer safe 4 oz jars by Ball. After pureeing and sterlizing jars, I made 11 4oz jars to store in the freezer. Yeah!

Sweet Potatoes!

Saya's first solid food. As we learned, sweet potatoes stains are not easy to get out. Saya seems to like them so we'll deal with soiled clothing for now. Not sure if the potatoes are what are causing the blow outs.

New Bumbo Tray

Mom had a good time at Target and bought a bit too much including this Bumbo tray attachment. Works great for feeding but tough to get Saya out afterwards. We give it about 3 out of 5 stars.

Made a little chirashi sushi and some ohagi all for Saya.

Saya's First Hinamatsuri

It's Girls Day today in Japan. We're going to celebrate with some Japanese food (hopefully I can make it ok). Here is Saya in her Girls Day outfit. Too cute!

So Far So Good

Today we got a call from Saya's ped and her results from her bloodwork are normal. So happy, we did a little happy dance in the kitchen. Let's hope the second round will be just just as great.

Saya's Cute Outfit

It's been months of sleepers and onesies. Now it's time for the outfits. We tried on the CUTE outfit today on our walk. Too cute!

Saya's Boo Boo

We needed to get some bloodwork done for Saya. She was a trooper! It hurt mommy more than it hurt her. One more round to go!

Strength Training for Saya

Tummy time with a twist.

Sushi Night

Our first outing with Saya. We celebrated Valentine's day a bit early as we thought a weeknight would be a better night for dinner with Saya. We went to our favorite restaurant- Sushi Yoshi. The food was great and Saya was so well behaved. We're so proud of her!

Saya and Her Silver Spoon

It's almost time to start Saya on rice cereal. We got some great advice from friends who recommended we feed formula with a spoon to get Saya ready. We fed her with her Tiffany's silver spoon. How lucky is she. We got it as a gift from her cribmate.  How sweet are they!

Saya's Wooden Teether

Everything goes in the mouth. She loves her new wood teethers- Had to get two just in case we lose one.
