Saya's 1st Birthday Party

I must say it was a great party and everyone had a great time. Mom and I cooked all morning and Jeff set up everything inside and out. It was a long exhausting morning but it was a great time. Saya knew today was going to be a special day but had no idea that she was going to be the center of attention. Here are some pictures of her party.

Lots of friends came over to help us celebrate

Saya's Hello Kitty cake

Saya's very own smash cake. She loved getting into it and throwing pieces on the floor. Thankfully the black icing came out of her clothing and the floor. Whew!

The kitchen was a mess by the end of the party and though we didn't want to start cleaning, we did.

Someone was uber tired after cooking all morning and entertaining guests. We hope she had a good time.

Costco Paper Products

Saya enjoys trips to Costco and today she got to play with all the paper towels we bought. Something about the color blue and Saya just catches your eye.

Push Me Ba-Ba

Ba-ba flew in for Saya's 1st birthday and was so excited to play with her. So she got a chance to play with her all day today. We received a few packages in the mail and Saya wanted to play with the packaging so Ba-ba put her in a box and pushed her around. Saya loved it.

Greatest Hair of All

So we're a bit biased when it comes to Saya's hair and love to make different dos occassionally.  Here she is after a nap curly in the back and sticking up in the front. It's just too funny!

Kitchen Utensils are the Best

We had to get dinner going and so Saya was in the kitchen with us yet we had to keep her occupied somehow. So we got out the sukiyaki plastic container, sushi roller, pasta thingy and others. Thank goodness it kept her somewhat occupied till dinner.

All Bundled Up

We were about to head out on our morning walk but it was a bit chilly so I put Saya in her jacket with pants and socks. She wasn't quite sure about the socks but luckily she was warm for our walk.

Chef Saya

Not sure if Saya's head grew in size or her clothes are shrinking but it's getting difficult to pull shirts over her head. So we left it on for a bit and she looked like a chef.

Early Intervention Eval-Complete

We finally completed our early intervention evaluation today. Saya was well within normal limits. Whew, thank goodness! We weren't too worried about her developments but we wanted to make sure beforehand so that we don't find out about any problems later.

A Little Light Reading

Here is baby reading on the way home from the picnic. She was so tired but had to get in a quick read before falling asleep.

Adoption Alliance Picnic

We made it out to Englewood for the annual Adoption Alliance Picnic today. Whew, it was hot out. I think the temp read 103F today. Thank goodness we had the pavillion but it was still hot. Jeff and I ate 2 popsicles to stay cool and Saya was somewhat cool with her hat and water. We met a ton of other families and learned of their journies and we shared our story too. So much fun!  We even won a plant and balloon from the raffle so we didn't leave empty handed. Hopefully we can go again next year and meet more families.

Here is Saya playing with her balloon. She loves balloons.

Family picture, of course.

Breakfast with Daddy

This morning mommy got to sleep in while baby ate breakfast with daddy. We love to see her smile at the dining table. Here she is all smiles-

Good Morning Saya

Here she is upon waking up from her nap. Don't you just love her hairdo?

All Muzzled Up

Testing out the doggies muzzles for fun day. We didn't end up going as we couldn't lug all the gear with doggies and baby. It was a bit too much this time around. We'll try again in Sept. At least we know the muzzles fit though.

Saya's Drawer

I guess we are going to have to make this bottom drawer Saya's. She discovered it today and started opening and closing it without smashing her fingers and pulling everything out. This was our junk drawer where we kept plastic bags and doggie collars and leashes but I think we should replace them with toys now.

Chewing on Bathing Suits

I think Saya is trying to tell me something by chewing on her swimsuit and mine. I'm going to fill up the pool for her this afternoon so she could splash around.

First Boo Boo

Saya falls and loses her balance when she doesn't nap very well. Today was one of those days and sure enough she lost her balance and fell on her activity cube and cut her chin. We headed to the doctors office just to make sure she didn't need stitches. She was ok and it should heal but we had to get it checked out just in case.

Monday Blues

It was a bit gloomy yesterday so I put Saya in her jeans and they barely fit her now. Oh dear.

Camera Shy

Saya is not very shy when it comes to getting her picture or video taken. But now that she can stand without much assistance, she comes towards the camera and tries to grab it.

Fanning Away

Saya loves to play with her fans and also being fanned. Here is Jeff fanning Saya.

Saya's Cup Trick

Saya seems to like stacks of cups. She grabs them with her teeth and then throws each one aside. Too funny.

Short Picnic

We decided to head to a nearby lake in Lafayette called Waneka Lake. I thought it would be nice to have a little picnic but it didn't turn out so nice. Just slightly ghetto. We put down our picnic blanket and took some pictures and headed home. The dogs loved going out but didn't really get to do much so I am sure they were ready to head home too.

New Toy

Another community garage sale and found another toy. The classic Skish toy was on sale for a buck. I had to get it.  Saya seems to enjoy it.

Wonderful World of Color and Puffs

The ultimate entertainment! Jeff put the World of Color on TV and Saya was again fascinated. We finished up all her puffs so she was playing with the container as well.  She didn't know what to do first, play with her puff container or watch TV.

Busy Cube

We finally found a cube that we liked on Craigslist. Just a little bit of cleaning and it was ready for Saya to play with. She's still learning how to play with it but enjoying every minute of it.
