This morning at 5am mommy's water broke. We called the doctor on call and they said to come in right away. Saya was still sleeping so we let her sleep. We got our bags put together and then got some breakfast and fed the dogs before heading out. Of course our car was out of gas so we had to get a full tank of gas before we got to the hospital. We checked in and it was definitely water so mommy got admitted. Still no symptoms of labor so we had breakfast after getting an ok from the doctor. Saya did really well in the hospital room. She pottied, ate, colored and watched TV. We are so proud of our little one. Then grandmas made flight reservations to head out to CO. Grandma Cathy will be coming out and baba will have to come out later since her flight change will be over a thousand dollars. Mommy got dinner ordered for kiddo and grandma and got a neighbor to pick up grandma at the airport. Whew! Arrangements done. Now ready for baby to come!
We had our friend Carrie come to pick up Saya and take her home. Jenna our neighbor picked up grandma from the airport. So around 4pm we finally got the show started. We started lots of walking and drinking water and then talked to the nurses. We then got to talk to the doctor about our options since there were no real signs of active labor. There were many choices but instead of Cytotec, Petosin, and other prostaglandin gels. Mommy has bad memories with Cytotec which was what the doctor suggested so we went with the gel around 9pm. Well that was a huge mistake- there was nothing more than major contractions and severe cramping and it never eased nor spread out. However, it was a good thing that we didn't get petosin since I was only 1cm dialated at the time and it wouldn't have worked. So after 5 hours of intense pain even after all the labor tools( we even used the spa room), mommy asked for an epidural at 9am- only 3 cm dialated at this time. Whew! that really took the edge off and we decided to wait till 6am to check again. We tried to sleep with the epidural but still so much going on and people coming in to check all the time we didn't get to sleep at all.
Thursday- at 6am the nurse checked mommy and luckily she was complete and 10cm dialated. Ready to start pushing. We tried to push but nothing was happening and mommy couldn't feel the contractions because of the epidural. We kept trying and trying but still baby was not moving down. The charge nurse and the doctor came in and still nothing so we tried some more. Then around 1pm Dr. Spears came in and said that baby is stuck on mommy's pelvic bone so she took out the catheter and hoped that would alleviate some of the blockage. That wasn't the case either. So we pushed and pushed but still nothing so Dr. Spears said it's time for the vacuum or C section. We chose the vacuum- but we only got 3 tries. If she didn't come out in 3 tries it would mean a c-section. We so didn't want that. So mommy pushed and pushed with all her might and after the 1st try- she was still stuck and mommy was about to be in tears. Not giving up yet, 2 try- Dr. Spears got her head out and we got to see baby's thick hair, then with lots of pain we had to get her shoulders out so we had push some more. She was out! Welcome baby Meisa!
