New Years Eve

It's Friday New Years Eve and mommy started cooking osechi ryori (Japanese New Years food). We went out to play in the snow and had our traditional passing of the year soba (toshi koshi soba). It was a great day which included lots of cleaning and cooking but was all worth it because we have Saya.

This year we had 3 okasanes, make that 4 including Saya.

Notice the 3rd okasane with the Maneki Neko on top. We're already lucky to have baby with us, but I thought a little more luck and prosperity won't hurt, so I had to buy.

Saya playing with all the different kamabokos that baba sent. Sho Chiku Bai  (Pine, Bamboo and plum). I always forget the order so this time I had to document it. We also had the kotobuki one which means "happiness".

Saya and daddy set up the kotatsu for the dogs. They love to go inside after running outside in the cold.

Saya getting all bundled up before we go play out in the snow.

Here she is all puffy and bundled up. She can't seem to walk in all the gear but at least she's warm.

Saya and daddy. Daddy was so excited to play in the snow with Saya. The snow as too dry to make snow balls so no snow ball fights yet.

Mom and Saya.

Saya and mommy went inside while daddy took the dogs out for a run. Saya had a nice warm bottle of milk and a gingerbread cookie. Not too bad for a cold winter day.  Later on she spotted daddy in the backyard shoveling snow. "Da da"!

Mommy ordered shoes from Zappos and they came earlier than expected. New shoes for Saya for the new year. See Kai Run Maisie shoes that mommy wanted to get a while ago. Love zappos for their great prices and free shipping. Yeah! Oh did I mention Saya's shoes are size 7. I was going to get size 6 but she would outgrow them in a month so we went bigger.

Saya in her new outfit from the Gardners and momma.

Who is this girl all shy in front of the camera?

Family pickucha!

Daddy and baby.

Toshi koshi soba. This year we had nori. We also had some teriyaki chicken as a side dish and added protein.

Saya enjoying her soba noodles and making a mess.

Why are Saya's lips red? We gave her some raspberries and some didn't make it in her mouth.
