On Saturday, we all got everything packed in the car for our camping trip and headed south to the The Great Sand Dunes National Park. We left our house in the morning and made 2 stops, one for coffee and another for gas (where we met our friends) and headed to our campsite. All sites were taken when we arrived but luckily Jeff had made reservations a long time ago so we had campsite 70. We set up camp and tents while the kiddos played in the sand getting all dirty. Once we were set up the ranger told us we had to move our tents to another location, so we had to move them. We then got ready and into the cars to check out Zapata Falls. It was a 0.5 mile hike to the actual waterfall, which was still mostly frozen. The daddies carried the babies in their carriers and mommies carried almost nothing as the hike was super short. It was really cool to see the falls and nice to be in cooler temperatures. We got some ice on the way back to the campsite and settled down for dinner. The winds picked up making things a bit more challenging but they calmed down a bit as soon as we started the campfire. We had brownies which hit the spot and headed to bed.
